VACCINES OF PREGNANCY
1) Tetanus Toxoid: two doses are given.
1st dose: anytime from second trimester.
2nd dose: 28 days later, should be at least 4
weeks before expected due date.
If subsequent pregnancy occurs within 5
years only one booster dose is given.
2) Influenza vaccine(swine flu vaccine)
It is given from 26 weeks onwards. Most
influenza infections are caused by H1N1
influenza A virus. This protects the mother
and the newborn who cannot be vaccinated
for the first 6 months of life.
3) T- dap vaccine: is tetanus, diptheria and
acellular vaccine. It is given between 27 to 36
weeks of pregnancy instead of the 2nd dose
of TT. Tdap has to be repeated in every
pregnancy irrespective of the status of
previous immunization with tdap.
