PEMPHIGOID GESTATIONIS (PG) of pregnancy.
Had to deal with an unusual & interesting skin condition in patient who was 36 weeks pregnant .
She developed an intense itchy red bumps on her abdomen .within days this rash spread to her thighs, legs, back, buttocks & ams. The itching was quite severe. With in a week tense fluid blisters appeared.This skin lesion was diagnosed as PG.
She was treated with oral antihistamines & topical corticosteroids . Her itching reduced & the rash disappeared .
What's is PG ?
It is an auto immune blistering disease , in which the individuals immune system starts acting against her own skin.
Immune globulin type G (IgG )auto antibodies cause the damage.
