CANDIDIASIS: is a vaginal fungal/yeast infection caused by CANDIDA ALBICANS. A healthy vagina contains good bacteria(lactobacillus) and some yeast cells. When the balance between the two changes, the yeast cells can multiply to cause candidiasis.
WHAT CAUSES CANDIDIASIS:
--Antibiotics: they decrease the amount of lactobacillus in the vagina.
-- Uncontrolled diabetis
-- Hormonal imbalance- when near your menstrual cycle.
-- Pregnancy
-- Weakened immune system.
SYMPTONS
-- Vaginal itching
-- Swelling around the vagina
--Burning micturition
-- Painful intercourse
--Redness and rash
--Thick cheesy discharge
TREATMENT
Antifungal creams, ointments or suppositories( with miconazole or clotrimazole) are the most common ways to treat.
These can be given from 1 to 7 day
You may be prescribed a single dose of fluconazole.
REPEATED TRICHOMONAL OR CANDIDA INFECTION
In such cases the male parter need to be treated along with the female partner.
